Liza graduated as a physical therapist from the University of Alberta in 2003.  After spending the first 5 years of her career working in Private Adult Orthopedics, Liza made the switch to pediatrics, her real passion.  She worked for Ridge Meadow Child Development Center as an early intervention and school district therapist and at Starbright Children’s Development Center as an early intervention therapist before beginning Okanagan Kids Physio in 2014 to pursue private practice.  Liza opened Kelowna SMILE Therapy for Kids in July 2024.

Liza has received further certification, in DMI (dynamic movement intervention), theratogs, serial casting, FES, NISE Stim, Therasuit Method, Hippotherapy and astronaut therapy.  She has done extensive course work in the intensive therapy delivery and has travelled to Toronto and Houston to learn more about these programs first hand.

She loves the water and the therapeutic benefits of aquatic therapy, and has been providing this service for children since 2008.

Liza is an accomplished athlete and is passionate about long course triathlon, marathons, and backpacking.  Liza is also the mother of 4 amazing children, including her youngest who was born with cerebral palsy.  Lived experience as a special needs parent, allows her to bring a unique perspective to her work.  Work Hard. Play Hard. We can do hard things, has always been her motto.
